The Pearl Street Mile

Well, they actually just ran a half mile, but they still get to sport the t-shirt saying Pearl Street Mile!

I was in town for this one and it was a fun evening.  Morgan and Grant both ran along with neighbors Megan, Andrew, and their mom/my running buddy Patty.

Before the kids race, there was a mascot ran.  In theory it would have been fun except Grant is massively afraid of "dudes in costumes"  (a quote from Morgan).  Scooby Doo wasn't that scary because Grant could see the guys real face and that was a good thing because Scooby ran the half mile with me and Grant!

Both kids took second in their age group.  If you check the results on the website it looks like Grant really smoked his age group and Morgan was super slow.   That was just me mixing up their numbers.....tired, working mom moment!

Random Shots of the the Kids

West End 3K

I signed Morgan up for the West End 3k (1.5k for the kids).  I even convinced my neighbor and running buddy Patty to sign herself and her daughter up.  Then I realized that I would be working in CA the day of the event!  No worries!  Patty helped me out by picking up the race packets and Doug stepped up to the plate and made it all happen.  Doug even let Grant convince him that he NEEDED to run with his brother.

It was a fun evening and a great race for everyone!  The Pearl Street Mile (1/2 mile for the kids) is Aug 9th.  Both boys are now signed up and as well as Megan and her brother Andrew.  This time I'll be in town and I can't wait to see the fun!

Grant's Third Birthday

Grant celebrated his third birthday on Friday June 1st.  We celebrated at the beach and at home with friends Chay and Koda.  He's becoming quite the big boy!

Vacation 2012

We spent a week at the beach in North Carolina this year and it was actually a fun and relaxing trip for everyone.  We went crab fishing, visited the aquarium, hunted ghost crabs, boogy boarded, made many sand castles, played mini-golf, and had a great time playing in the surf.

Derrick and Debbie were there the two weeks before us and we overlapped a few days.  Grandma and Papa McCuen joined us for the last few days to celebrate Grant's birthday.

X-Wing Fighter

It was a rainy Saturday so we visited a small air and space museum in Denver.

They had a nearly full scale mock-up of a Star Wars X-Wing Fighter!  Even I was impressed!

Hiking the Second Flatiron

Doug took a day off over Morgan's spring break and together they hiked the second flatiron.
Quite a hike for a six year old.

As I walked out the door that morning, I mentioned that Morgan's camo shorts and light green shirt might blend in well with the scenery.  I received several texts during their hike of Morgan camouflaging himself in nature.  See if you can pick out the Morgan "rock"!

Morgan's Sixth Birthday

I know I sound like a broken record, but I'll say it anyway.....I can't believe he's six years old!

He had a great birthday. He got a new bike with a hand brake and gears. We gave it to him, he road down the driveway, and promptly crashed! Too busy dealing with the new gears and brake. He was back on the horse the next day though!

Grandma and Grandpa B were in town for his actual birthday. They made cookies with him to take to his class and they picked him up after kindergarten and took him to lunch to celebrate! He loved getting to leave after kindergarten rather than staying for Kindergarten enrichment and Y after-care.

There was another celebration on Easter with the neighbors. Tannis produced one of her amazing cakes. This year's was, at Morgan's request, an archery themed bulls-eye.

Grant: April 2012

It was picture day for Morgan's soccer team and Grant wanted his picture taken too. I was more than happy to oblige!
