New Baby on the way

After much debate and discussion, Doug and I decided that we really did want to have another child. The key word being child. A new baby isn't what we are after but unfortunately that's how they arrive. At some point the desire for another child out-weighed the lack of desire for a new baby and we took the plunge. No turning back now. It's due to arrive the end of May. Those first few months (year???) will be a lot of work but we'll get through it. I've been on a holiday shut-down for work since Christmas Eve and it's been a very relaxing week so far. I keep reminding myself to enjoy the moment!

We've been a bit lax in telling people mainly because it just doesn't seem that monumental right now. With Morgan we knew life was changing in a big way (and it did) but we were really excited about it. Right now, we're just trying to not think about all the work that lays ahead. Once the belly starts growing bigger I'm sure we'll get more into it!

The Christmas Season

Morgan is finally old enough to get the concept of Christmas which made the holiday season a little extra special this year. We tried to work in a few fun extras. December 23rd we went to the Denver Zoo to see the Zoo Lights Display. I tried to make it very clear that since we were going to the zoo when it was dark, most of the animals would be in bed. But, the animals had decorated their houses with plenty of lights of us to look it. Despite my prep work, there was some disappointment when Morgan realized that the majority of the animals we would be seeing were just light displays. A few animal houses were open though and the carousel was running. Things took a turn for the better when friends Kiera and Conner from Joycare arrived. It was cold but still a fun evening.

On Christmas Eve we slowly let on that this was the night that Santa came. The excitement built and we were lucky enough to have a special visit from Santa at our house that night. Our neighbors Ed/Tannis/Jasper/Chay were over for dessert and were lucky enough to be there when Santa stopped by.

Christmas morning was all about opening presents....which he loved. He even helped his 6 month old cousin Charlotte open her presents.

Lunchtime Fun

There's nothing like listening to the Beatles on your headphones while eating Mac-N-Cheese for lunch. Too bad the headphones are just blueberries!

Morgan finally enjoys the snow!

Sledding with Chay

Plowing the slide

Sled ride to the park in Frisco

Doug and I have slowly and successfully been exposing Morgan to activities we enjoyed together. So far Morgan loves going to the pool and he's also pretty excited about hiking. We've made great progress with traveling and eating out. The one "situation" was the snow! A rather large "situation" since we live in Colorado and Doug and I have historically enjoyed snow sports. Last winter we tried hard. We attempted to snowshoe and cross country ski with Morgan on the sled. Both attempts did not last long and involved lots of screaming (from Morgan, although Doug and I were tempted to join in).

So I can't even begin to tell you what a relief it was when Morgan decided this year that the snow could be fun! We spent Thanksgiving in the mountains and while we were there mother nature unleashed about a foot of snow. We pulled him on the sled to the park where he proceeded to play on the snow covered structure. We even sledded down a small hill and tossed snowballs. A few weekends later, the snow arrived in Boulder. He successfully tramped around the cul-de-sac on his skis and had fun with his neighbor buddy Chay.

It may be a few years before we have the full day resort ski days or move on to long cross country or snowshoe ski days but we're getting there!

The Start

Hi Everyone:

I've enjoyed following friends blogs and I recognize the blog as an easy and efficient way of sharing info. So I've started one for our family.

Enjoy
