Evel Knievel

If it has wheels, Grant likes to ride it! We started making him wear his helmet when he rides the Big Wheel down the driveway.

I think the ride-on fun is compensating for the lack of walking. He's crawling, going up/down the stairs, and climbing. Just not walking!

Saturday Morning Hike

It was warm and windy Saturday morning but we found a nice sheltered hike that crossed a stream several times. The place was instantly exciting because there was a mountain lion warning sign. We saw plenty of bugs, threw sticks in the water, and at the end we met a kid who had just caught a snake.

Action Adventure Weekend

s

It was a busy weekend.

Saturday May 1st, Morgan went to a birthday party at Boulder Indoor Cycle Sports. It's an indoor bike track with a mountain bike technical course in the middle. They biked around the track for about 20 min then moved onto the mountain bike course. Crashes ensued! Eventually about 3/4 of the kids (Morgan included) ditched their bikes and had a blast running around on the mountain bike course. They were all a bit too young for the place but in a few years it will be a fun option in the winter. It was fun watching them all tear around on their mini bikes though. Morgan is the kid with the skull/bones helmet.

On Sunday May 2, Doug did a 5K Rockies Run in Denver. He finished at Coors Field. The kids and I met him afterward so Morgan could participate in the kids fun run. His first "race". It was a 1K run around the warning track at Coors Field. We planned on meeting friends Eva (5) and Jasper (almost 2) who live in Denver. But, as an added bonus, Doug ran into neighbors Patty, Dwight, Megan (5), and Andrew (almost 2). Morgan and Megan "raced" together. For participating he got two tickets to a weekday Rockies home game and a Rockies hat. Kudos to Patty though. She pushed 75 lbs worth of kids and stroller in the 5K race.

In my typical frazzled, busy mom state, I forgot my camera for both events. The above photos are off my phone so the quality isn't that great. Oh well. I did manage to save the day for Patty who brought her camera with a dead battery! If you look at the race shot, you can see Megan and Morgan in the upper/left. Look for the girl in the pink pants and the boy in the blue, fleece vest. Dwight and Doug are running behind them.

Yes, I know, the quality is sad....it was his first race though and I tried to document it!

Self Feeding Begins

Grant is starting to desire some independence. Feeding himself is at the top of the list of "skills" that he's trying to master. What a mess! I don't remember it being such a mess with Morgan but that's probably because Morgan didn't eat that much.

Some days we let him have at it and clean up. Some days we're not in the mood for a dining room scrub down and we feed him.

He seems to be doing well with the finger food. We get all excited when we think he likes something only to discover that what we thought he ate is actually all over the floor.

We're making progress.....

Morgan's Birthday Party

Morgan celebrated his fourth birthday at the WOW childrens museum. He had a great time. Again, our neighbor Tannis stepped up to the plate with the awesome super hero cake.

These are the only pics of the event. Last year we had the luxury of having Grandma and Grandpa B in town to help herd kids and take photos. This year it was just Doug and me running the party, keeping track of Morgan + friends, and entertaining Grant. I guess I should be happy that I managed to grab these two shots.
