Cousins

Morgan and Charlotte hanging out on Thanksgiving.

Dinner Time

Morgan is our non-eater.
Grant will eat anything and everything.

Sitting Skills

Grant: Five Months

The month of November was a busy one for Grant. He cut TWO teeth, started eating solid food (which he loves), started sleeping through the night (which I love), began rolling all over the place, and celebrated his first Thanksgiving.

Brotherly Love

Aunt Heidi and Grandma B sent the shirts. Both kids started the day off in different outfits. Diaper blow-outs and bad aim necessitated changes though. When the brother shirts came out I decided it was time for another attempt at photographing both kids. These shots are decent.

It is fun to see the sibling attachment. Morgan loves his brother and Grant is starting to reciprocate. He lites up at the end of the day when he sees Morgan. We also had another sympathy cry from Grant when Morgan was upset.

Halloween

Despite two feet of snow two days before, Halloween turned out to be a great day. The weather was warm and everyone was out in the cul-de-sac trick-or-treating. Grandma B spent the weekend with us. Aunt Leigh/Uncle Doug/Charlotte came from Denver. Uncle Derrick came from Ft Collins.

The Pumpkin Patch

We visited a local pumpkin patch with friends from Joycare (our first Boulder daycare). The weather was great and we had a fun morning.

Halloween Greetings

Halloween cards from Aunt Heidi and Grandma B arrived on the same day. After successfully finishing his dinner, Morgan had a great time with his mail.

Grant: Four Months

He's still king of the smiles and giggles! Laying around on a blanket is becoming very old school for Grant. He wants to roll around and be upright. He's also starting to respond to his brother. He loves to watch Morgan dance around or make funny faces. When Morgan cried because of a squished finger...Grant cried too!

The First Snow of the Season

We woke up Saturday Oct 10th to the first snow of the season. Thankfully most of the winter snow gear had been gathered because Morgan couldn't wait to suit up and help Doug shovel.

Vacation 2009

It's been a summer of change for everyone so we treated ourselves to a ten day vacation on the NC coast. We shared the trip with friends Carolyn, Ward, and almost two year old Alex. Doug's parents and his Aunt Betsy/Uncle Jeff couldn't resist joining us for the Labor Day weekend.

Everyone had a great time. Both kids traveled well. Grant was just along for the ride but we managed to do the following with Morgan:

1. Introduce Morgan to the joys of fresh seafood. He ate and enjoyed clams, softshell crab, and crab cakes.
2. Played in the ocean + Boogy Boarded + Skim Boarded
3. Successfully fished for crab off lines and in traps.
4. Visited the NC Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores
5. Visited the Maritime Museum in Beaufort.

The ease of travel was definitely a light at the end of the tunnel moment for us. Doug and I use to travel a decent amount prior to kids. Our hope was that kids could easily join us in our adventures. Unfortunately with Morgan, this wasn't really the case. Now he's old enough to know that good behavior is a must when we travel and hopefully Grant will continue with the easy going personality.

Grant: Three Months

Grant is adding new skills to his list daily. He easily rolls from his back to his front. The front to back roll has happened but it's not as often as the back to front. The bumper is now in the crib because all the movement meant limbs getting stuck.

The Whole Family

It was a slow Saturday afternoon and we messed around with the camera timer.

Head Control

I finally captured Grant's head "skills" with the camera. He even managed a tummy to back roll yesterday.

Grant: 2 Months

We refer to Grant as our "solid" kid. He may look like Morgan but structurally he's very different. Morgan's height has averaged around 50% (at most) and his weight has either been off the chart or less than 10%.

Two Month Stats:
Height = 24.25 inches = 95%
Weight = 12lbs 1oz = 55%
Head = 15.5 inches = 30%

He's holding his head up, easily moving his finger and/or thumb to his mouth, smiling, cooing, repositioning himself in the crib (despite being swaddled), and basically being an awesome new baby. Much to my pleasure, what little hair he does have is appearing to be red!

A Rainy Day at Home

What to do with a three year old when it rains all day:
1. Paint
2. Color
3. Make cookies
4. Puzzles
5. Tunnels/Tent
6. Play superheros
7. Show off your breakin' skills

Grant and Aunt Heidi

Aunt Heidi was out for a visit. We all loved having her around.

Grant: 5 Weeks

The full monty at five weeks

Head Control and Fingers

Grant is starting to control his head really well. Attached are shots of his "skills". I've unsuccessfully tried to capture him picking his head up and moving it around during tummy time. Be on the look out for that picture.

He's also discovering his fingers and the joy of sucking them! He's getting better at moving them to his mouth but I think he's still not quite sure what they are and where they come from. I often have to help him find them.
